What Is QHHT — And Why Was Dolores Cannon's Work So Revolutionary?

If you've stumbled across the term QHHT — Quantum Healing Hypnosis Technique — you've probably also stumbled across the name Dolores Cannon.

And if you're anything like most of the women who eventually find their way to my practice, your reaction was probably somewhere between deeply curious and quietly skeptical.

Both responses are completely valid. In fact, the skepticism is part of what makes QHHT so interesting — because the results have a way of converting even the most rational, evidence-based minds.

Let me explain what this work actually is, where it came from, and why I believe it is one of the most profound healing modalities available today.

Who Was Dolores Cannon?

Dolores Cannon was an American hypnotherapist and researcher who spent over 45 years — from the late 1960s until her passing in 2014 — conducting thousands of hypnotherapy sessions with clients around the world.

What made her work extraordinary was not just the volume of sessions she conducted, but what she consistently found within them.

Working with clients in the deepest level of hypnotic trance — what she called the somnambulistic state — Dolores discovered that people were accessing experiences, wisdom, and healing that went far beyond anything their conscious mind could have produced.

Clients who had never met each other, living in different countries, speaking different languages, were accessing remarkably consistent information about consciousness, healing, and the nature of human experience.

Dolores spent decades documenting what she found — publishing 19 books on her research — and ultimately developed QHHT as a structured, repeatable method for accessing this level of consciousness in a way that could facilitate deep healing.

She called the source of intelligence that spoke through her clients the Higher Self — the part of us that exists beyond personality, beyond the wounds of this lifetime, beyond the noise of everyday life. The part that has a broader perspective on why we are the way we are, what our patterns are trying to show us, and what our body and soul need to heal.

What Actually Happens in a QHHT Session

A QHHT session is unlike anything else in the healing space. It is immersive, deeply personal, and typically runs 4 hours.

Here is what the experience looks like:

Before the hypnosis begins, we spend significant time in conversation. I learn about your life — your history, your patterns, your struggles, your questions. You arrive with intention. The questions you bring into the session shape everything that follows.

The hypnosis itself uses Dolores Cannon's specific induction method to guide you into the somnambulistic state — the deepest level of hypnotic trance. This is the state most of us pass through naturally twice a day, in the moments just before we fall asleep and just after we wake. It is far deeper than standard hypnotherapy and produces a qualitatively different experience.

Most clients are surprised by how natural this feels. You are not unconscious. You are not out of control. You are deeply relaxed and deeply aware — in a state of heightened inner perception rather than ordinary waking consciousness.

In this state, your subconscious mind becomes accessible in a way it simply isn't in ordinary life. Clients often experience vivid scenes or memories that carry profound emotional significance. Some of these appear to be from this lifetime. Some appear to be from other times and places entirely.

Whether you interpret these as past lives, symbolic representations, or something else entirely is entirely up to you. QHHT does not require any particular belief system to produce results. What matters is what the experience reveals and what healing it facilitates — not the metaphysical framework you use to understand it.

The Higher Self conversation is what makes QHHT unlike any other healing modality.

Near the end of the session, after the experiential portion, I speak directly with what Dolores called the Higher Self — that deeper layer of intelligence that has access to information the conscious mind does not.

I ask the questions you brought into the session. About your health. Your relationships. Your purpose. Your patterns. Why certain things have happened in your life. What your body needs to heal.

The answers that come through are often startlingly specific, deeply loving, and unlike anything the client's conscious mind could have generated. Many clients describe this portion of the session as the most significant conversation of their lives.

After the session, you receive a full audio recording to keep and revisit. The integration process often continues for days, weeks, and sometimes months — as the insights and healings that were initiated in the session continue to unfold in ordinary life.

What Can QHHT Help With?

In 45 years of research Dolores Cannon documented QHHT facilitating healing across an extraordinary range of conditions and questions. In my own practice I have witnessed clients accessing profound clarity and healing around:

Emotional and psychological patterns — anxiety, fear, recurring relationship dynamics, self-sabotage, grief, and trauma that hasn't responded to conventional approaches.

Physical symptoms — chronic pain, unexplained illness, and physical conditions that conventional medicine has been unable to fully address. The Higher Self often identifies the emotional or energetic root of physical symptoms with remarkable precision.

Life questions — why certain relationships or events have occurred, what a person's deeper purpose is, what they have been carrying that was never theirs to carry, and what their soul most needs at this point in their journey.

Spiritual experiences — understanding experiences that felt inexplicable, connecting with a sense of meaning and direction, and moving through major life transitions with a deeper sense of why.

It is important to note that QHHT is a complementary healing modality — not a replacement for medical or psychological care. Results vary by individual. What I can tell you from my own experience as a practitioner is that the range and depth of what becomes accessible in these sessions consistently exceeds what most conventional approaches can reach.

Why I Trained With Dolores Cannon Directly

I did not come to QHHT as a technique to add to a list of services.

I came to it as a calling.

I was personally trained by Dolores Cannon — one of a relatively small number of practitioners who learned this work directly from her a year before her passing in 2014.

What I witnessed in her presence confirmed everything I had already come to believe through my own healing journey and my work as a clinical hypnotherapist and IFS coach:

The answers are already inside us.

Healing is not something that happens to us from the outside. It rises from within — from a level of intelligence and wisdom that is always present, always available, and far greater than anything the conscious mind can access alone.

QHHT is the most direct route I have found to that level.

Who Is QHHT For?

You do not need to believe in past lives to benefit from QHHT. You do not need to identify as spiritual. You do not need to have any framework for what the Higher Self is.

What you need is genuine curiosity and a willingness to go inward.

QHHT tends to be especially powerful for women who:

  • Have done significant personal development work and feel like something fundamental still hasn't shifted.

  • Have physical symptoms that conventional medicine hasn't been able to fully explain.

  • Are navigating a major life transition — menopause, loss, identity shift — and feel pulled toward a deeper understanding of why.

  • Have had experiences they couldn't explain and have never had space to explore.

  • Simply feel, on some level, that there is more to understand about themselves than they have been able to access through conventional means.

If any of that resonates — trust it.

The Higher Self doesn't knock loudly. It nudges.

A Note on Skepticism

If you're reading this with a healthy dose of skepticism — good. That kind of critical thinking is an asset, not an obstacle.

What I would say to the skeptic is this: the proof is in the experience.

Some of the most rational, scientifically minded people I have worked with have left QHHT sessions profoundly changed — not because I convinced them of anything, but because something in the session spoke to them with a precision and a knowing that their analytical mind could not dismiss.

You don't have to believe anything in advance. You just have to be willing to find out.

Curious about what a QHHT session might reveal for you? I offer QHHT Intensive sessions as a standalone experience — a single immersive 4 hour session going to the deepest layer of your subconscious mind.
